Rani Sati Temple


The Rani Sati Temple is situated at Birmitrapur and is also popularly known as second Jhun-Jhun Dham of India.

The temple is beautifully designed and the work done on the walls are appreciating. The temple complex has got two beautiful flower garden. The statue of lord Shiva is very beautiful in the back side garden of temple. It is also called “Jhun Jhun Dham” at Birmitrapur. The Marwari society from Rajasthan and other parts of country worship Rani Sati Dadi in there house daily and they believe that Rani Sati Dadi is Maa Durga. Rani Sati Dadi is related to Mahabharata. She was Utera, wife of Abhimanyu. When Abhimanyu was died in the battle of Mahabharata by that time Utera wanted to be sati by putting her body into the funeral fire of Abhimanyu. Sri   Krishna came to her and explained that she is not advisable to do so. He also gave her boon that it would only be possible in the next birth and her wish will be fulfilled to became Sati.

In the next life her name was Narayani daughter of Gursamal in the village of Thukaye in Rajasthan.  Abhimanyu became Thandhan son of Jaliram at Hissar in his second life. Thandhan has a beautiful horse and used for his purpose. Thandhan got married to Narayani and spent his life nicely. One of the king’s son from Hissar wished to take the beautiful horse of Thandhan but he denied to give the horse.

Finally the king’s son decided to get the horse forcibly and fought with Thandhan. Thandhan killed the king’s son. By getting the news of death of his son, king decided to kill the Thandhan. Thandhan died in front of Narayani in the battle while fighting with king. Narayani fought with the king and killed the king. She ordered Ranaji who was the care taker of the horse, to make proper arrangement so that she can put herself in the fire with her husband. She blessed Ranaji that his name will be worshiped as Rana Sati with her name and since then she is called as Rani Sati. The blessing of Rani Sati Dadi is very powerful.

In the Rani Sati Temple complex there is Ganesh Temple, Hanuman Temple, Sita Ram Temple and Shiva Temple with other thirteen Sati Temple. Prasad is also distributed after worship. There is proper arrangement for the day meals on payment basis. The beautiful

atmosphere attracts every visitor. The temple is forty kilometres from the Rourkela. At the top of the temple there is a golden pot which is very much alluring.

Jangha & Bada Dev

The Badagoan square is near about 70 (Seventy) km from Rourkela. An approach road is connected from Bargaon to the village Bhoipali which at a distance of 2 km Lord Jangha Dev. is being worshipped there in the village since a long time. Jangha Dev has been regarded as the perceptible God by the local inhabitants. A beautiful temple is constructed in the village. Every year in the month of Pausa people from different parts of the state especially from the Gond community come to take part in the festival of Bhoipali.

The lower part of the body i.e. from thigh to knee of Lord Jagannath of Puri is said to have worshipped here in the temple of Jangha Dev.

It is also believed that the Pandavas after completing the funeral rites of Lord Krishna thrown the remnants i.e. the “Navi Brahma” into the Ocean. The forest dwellers during that time collected that lower part of the Lord and started worshipping IT. Those people worshipping the lower part of the body later identified themselves as Gonds.

During the Mughal invasion the idol of Lord Jangha Deva was brought to the dense forest of Sundergarh. Since than the Lord Jangha Deva is being worshipped in Bhoipali village.

Besides, many more myth and stories relating to the origin of Lord Jangha Deva is heard to supplement the established fact.

Ghoghar


It is 25 kms away from Rourkela. In the month of “ Sravan” , “ Bol Bam” pilgrims from Chattisgarh and Jharkhand throng this place to pour water on the Shiv Ling of Ghoghar Temple. Near by stream, Badjor flows with full speed in the monsoons to add to the scenic surroundings of the temple. , It is popular as a picnic spot. A naturally formed Siva Lingam of black granite worshipped by the local people, is an additional attraction.

This place of worship is well connected to the Orissa State Highway 10.
It is connected to Rajgangpur on the eastern side of it by pucca road(usable even by heavy motor vehicles).

Hanuman Vatika

Hanuman Vatika is a beautiful garden Temple devoted to Hanumanji. It is  spread on the Thirteen Acres of land. It has got the tallest statue of Lord Hanuman and several other temples. The Vatika is full of garden which makes the whole complex calm and relaxed. The Vatika was setup by Hanuman Vatika Trust and the initial initiative came from Sri. Dilip Roy.

1. Sri Ram Temple

The Temple is very nicely built and has the deities of Sri Ram, Sri Laxman and Mata Sita. It was constructed by Sri Rajendra Gupta in the year 1994.

2.Hanuman Temple

This Temple is devoted to Hanumanji and is the main Hanuman Temple. Pujas are offered here. The enchanting gateway to the Temple is nicely decorated in the South Indian style. It was constructed by Mr. Dina from Hyderabad.

3. Statue of Hanuman -

The statue of Hanuman is the tallest statue measuring 74 feet and 9 inch. The statue is highly impressive and is a true reflection of the superman power of Hanuman ji. It  was constructed by Sri. Laxman Swami of Hyderabad. The statue was inaugurated by  Sri. Biju Pattanaik the then Chief Minister of Orissa in the year 1994.

4. Lord Jagannath Temple

This is a marvellous and beautifully designed temple. The devotes are impressed to see the Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Maa Subhadra in the same pattern as Puri Temple. Cart Festival is being organized every year in the month of June/July.

5.Maha Laxmi temple

It is an excellent architectural design which is very pleasant in look. Maa Maha Laxmi’s blessings for wealth is always for the devotees who were surrendered to her whole heartedly. This temple was built by Mr.Jawahar Panda.

6.Maa Vimla Temple

The Temple was constructed by Mr. Satyanand Mohanty in dedication to his father Late Pitamber Mohanty. Devotee can get her blessings in different manner and over come the troubles.

7.Maa Sarla Temple

This Temple was constructed by Mr. Maheswar Kar and is dedicated to Maa Sarla. Blessing of Maa Sarla is very great who whole heartedly call her and blessing is for the whole life of the devotee.

8.Radha Krishna Temple

This Temple was constructed by Mr. K. C. Sahoo in year 1999.Lord Krishna is the “PARAM – BRAHMA” and all in all in the whole world and Radha is great devotee who sacrificed her life for Sri Krishna.

9.Maa Parvati Temple

The Temple is for Maa Parvati, who is the mother of the whole universe. It is nicely decorated temple. This temple was constructed by Mr. Brindaban Sahoo from Ganjam District in the year 2004.

10. Somnath Temple

- This Temple is designed as per the Somnath Temple in Gujarat. Lord Shiva is almightily, whose great and highest blessing is always with the mankind and all living being. This temple is also built by Mr. K. C. Sahoo.

11. Maa Santosi Temple

It is an excellent architectural designed temple. It is constructed by Mr. Babulal Agarwal in the year 1999.

12. Twelve Joytirling Temple ( Lord Shiva in the form of twelve joytirling )

An excellent temple, beautifully designed is worthy seeing. It is built by Mr. Bauribanda Gagodia an eminent industrialist of Rourkela in the year 1999.

13. Sri Ganesh Temple

This Temple is situated at the entrance at the main gate. As we enter through the main gate we have a great oarsman of Lord Ganesh. In front of the temple, is a big statue of mouse which is a centre of attraction for the kids. This temple was built by Mr. Suresh Pradhan in the year 1994.

14. Maa Bat Mangala Temple

It is an excellent, good looking temple constructed by an eminent devotee Mr. Khirudh Chandra Nayak of Rourkela in the year 1994, who got the blessing of Maa Bat Mangala at Puri, situated at the left side entrance of Hanuman Vatika. Her blessing to the visitors in Hanuman Vatika is always with the devotee in the smooth manner.

15. Manas Parishad

It is inaugurated by Mr. Dilip Roy in the year 1997. It is mend for the social upliftment and spiritual development activities.

16. Satsang Hall of Sadguru Ashram Bapu

It is well organised by the devotee of Sadguru Ashram Bapu in and around Rourkela. Sadguru is the blooming light and remove all the darkness in life. Satsang is organised weekly once to discuss the spiritual development of light and wisdom.

17. Charchika Temple (Under construction)

It is dedicated to the mother of Sri Dilip Roy, a great devotee of Maa Charchika.

18. Vaishnu Devi Temple

This temple was established by Sri. Nihar Roy in the Year 1994 the item chairmen of Municipality Rourkela. The construction of temple is very excellent and devotee can enjoy very nicely. The blessing of Maa Vaishnu Devi is a very great to the devotee.

Besides numerous temple the complex is full of Mandap and garden space. A number of ceremonies such as marriage, birthday parties, satsang is regularly held by the devotees. It is very right place at Rourkela to perform all social functions to the great satisfaction in a very good, healthy environment and all co-operation is being organized by the temple authority at all the times. The Kalia Baikunth , the kitchen, the kalyan mandap and the bhajan mandap lie close to the the Jagannath Temple. The Gate of the temple is beautifully decorated with statues who watch the temple. The greenery is the scenery of this complex.

There are no charges for entering the temple, however there are charges using the camera over the complex. A lot of shops have coming up selling the puja materials, prasad and all kind of snacks. The beautiful atmosphere relaxed the mind and the temple atmosphere bring peace to the tired minds. The temple complex has become a national point of tourism and is must seen in Orissa. It is sad that the complex is not being actively promoted by the tourism department. Creating of further quality infrastructure will surely uplift the sentiment in the complex.

Wisdom, strength, fame, courage, conviction, good health, sharpness and also eloquence are bestowed by mere invocation of Lord Hanuman.

Maa Bhagwati Temple

It is described in the Furan that the great sage Paraser has established its Ashram here, where now the Bhagwati temple is situated near Chhend Housing Colony and SOS children village and near Ring Road in satya yoga. The small hill is surrounded by different types of trees with very good clean environment which gives an impression of heaven. Smell of flowers from the flowers tree is really is much impressive to the devotee. It is also described that the great Ashram was surrounded by forest, flowers and birds was of great immense pleasure to the hundreds of student of great sage Paraser. Daily Yagya was conducted with pure ghee and Chandi Paath was daily routine. Maa Bhagwati was worshipped daily by the great sage of devotees.

A tunnel was constructed in that time and is still seen from outside. It is told that the length of the tunnel was from Ashram to Vedvyas Shiv Temple. Thousands of snake are still found at the time of Durga Puja in the month of September and October every year. When this temple was constructed in the year 1993 some earthen pots filled with ashes was found from depth of foundation of the Temple, which were burried at the time of Paraser Ashram. It is also described in the puran that the sage also got married to Satyawati who was a daughter of fisherman and Vedvyas was the son of Satyawati, who had written the great Mahabharata. Shiv Temple of Vedvyas is 3 Kms distance away from this Bhagwati temple, situated in the confluence of the river Sankh, Saraswati and Koel, were the river Brahmani is started to plunge. Daily the sage was worshipping the Lord Shiv by crossing the river by boat where Satyawati helped him in boating. Now Bhagwati Temple is a great worship place of thousand of devotees. The blessing of Maa bhagwati is great to the man kind.

Dasaraja garh

The famous Dasaraja garh is situated in Chhend near Vedvyas. The fort does not exist only the ruins are seen. Some people have occupied the land and illegal construction of houses and cowsheds is being noticed. Some ruins of the fort are seen in the confluence of Koyal and Shankh where Brahmani has sprung. It is believed that the king of Dasaraja was grandfather of Vyasadev who had made his capital here.

Gayatri Temple

It is situated in Sector 2 near the small hill in front of Indra Gandhi Park near Desoza English Medium School. A clean environment surrounded by green trees and flowers makes this temple a beautiful surrounding.

Maa Gayatri 108 Kundi Yagya is established every year at the end of December by BEDAMURTY TAPONISTA  PANDIT SRIRAM SHARMA ACHARYA. Devotee can enjoy very nicely with family and friends. Some social function like marriage, barat, birthday ceremonies are also performed all the times. All facilities and co-operation are available to perform the function by the temple authority. It is a best place at Rourkela to perform the social function in a cheapest manner.

The Gayatri temple was established in the year 1981 by Sadaguru Sri Ram Devji Sharma. Spiritual atmosphere is observed at the time of performance of Yagya. Thousand of people are gathered there from different localities of Rourkela and outside too to purify the mind and to become very good men and women to live peacefully

Maa Vaishno Devi Temple


It is situated on the top of the small hill with a beautiful environment of green tree and fresh air through the day. It is also visible from the Railway Station. The images of Maa Kali, Maa Lakshmi and Maa Saraswati were found on the hill in the year 2000. then Maa Vaishnu Devi Temple Trust was formed in the year 2000. The Temple was constructed and completed in the year 2003. Proper stairs were made and water tanks were arranged for drinking water. Maa Durga Temple is another attraction near the cave to be worthy seen. The statue of Maa Durga is very attractive. Her blessing to the man kind is great.

The puja materials are always available in the temple premises. The devotee feel as it in heaven. The cold wind is very much refreshing which attracts the visitors. The blessing of Maa Vaishnu Devi is very great and the devotee gets all satisfaction. A great festival “The Avirvav Day” is observed on sixth February at Maa Vaishnu Devi Temple

Maa Tarini Temple

MAA TARINI TEMPLE COMPLEX

This temple of Maa Tarini is at Civil Township. The temple is beautifully constructed with numbers of other small temple in the same complex. In the front of the temple the statue of two lions are constructed in the both side of the main gate of Maa Tarini. This Temple was constructed in the year 1969 by the donation of public. Every devotee offer prasad to Maa Tarini with great devotion. The devotees get miracle success as per their desire. From morning 5 A.M to night 8 P.M, the temple is full of devotees. A huge gathering is observed specially at evening. Now the temple committee is taking care to develop further.

JAGANNATH TEMPLE

It is constructed in the year 1998 in the Maa Tarini Complex by the temple committee. Blessing of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadra is very great. The design of the temple is very attractive.

MAA MAHALAXMI TEMPLE

This temple was also constructed in the year 1998. The blessing of Maa Maha Lakshmi is for every one for the wealth.

HUNUMAN TEMPLE

Hanumanji is popularly known as Sankat Mochan. The blessings of Lord Hanuman keeps all the hindrances of life away from his devotee and is unassessable. Hanuman Chalisa is also being read by the devotees.

Social functions like marraiges, thread ceremony, birth day celebration are usually performed through out the year. The temple is always busy through out the day. At the time of Navratri and Durga Puja this temple is decorated beautifully with lights, candles and flowers.

Ahiraband

The Jagannath Temple Complex that lies in Sector-3 of Rourkela is known as Ahirabandh Jagannath Temple. Once upon a time there was a village called Ahirabandh. One of the villagers uses to worship a stone in the middle of the village. Just before the construction of the Steel Plant, One Narasingha Rath an officer of the police depts.. constructed the Shambhu Vaidyanath Temple on this spot and began to worship the stone. Later Dr. Srinivasan constructed Nabagraha Temple, Sri Jagannathan Hanumanji Temple in the vicinity of Vaidyanath temple. Then Sri S. Samal constructed the Parvati Temple. A contractor set-up the Dwadesha Sambhu Temple. Munda Majhi and Kapil Panda carried the idles of Lord Jagannath Balbhadra and Subhadra from Tumkela and placed them in a cottage of Ahirabandh. The car festival of Ahirabandh is being celebrated regularly from that year. The Steel Plant was established, Sectors were built up but Ahirabandh remained as neglected as before. However some righteous people constructed the Magnificent Jagannath Temple there.

The local people in imitation of rules of the Puri temple observe thirteen festivals, in twelve months. Recently a beautiful Aiyappa Temple has been constructed in this complex by some South Indian Hindu devotees. There is arrangement for Prasada Sevana in the temple complex. In addition to this one Sitala Devi temple has been installed in 1972 by a priest named Mr. Shasibaman Pani. Since then this Goddess has been worshiped by devotees.

Of late, the complex beauty has been restored. A number of Prasad is held in the complex especially during Sawan month. This temple complex is very unique in nature to be worthy seen by all. This complex consists of number of temples.

Lord Jagannath Temple – This temple was constructed in the year 1975. It is Ninety feet in height and very attractive. It is located in the Sector 3 at Rourkela. Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Maa Subhadra’s blessing to the devotees are very great.

Maa Mahalaxmi

Maa Maha Laxmi Temple – The small temple is situated adjacent to Sri Jagannath Temple. The blessing of Maa Mahalaxmi is always with the devotee, the design of temple is very much appreciating.


Sri Ganesh Temple – It is adjacent to Sri Jagannath Temple and is very attractive. Blessing of Sri Ganesh is to devotee is very great at all the times.

Maa Durga Temple – It is on of the very attractive temple. The statue of Maa Durga is very fascinating and is decorated with different ornaments.

Maa Mangala Temple – This temple is near to Shiv Temple. It is also well decorated and well maintained by the temple authority.

Twelve Jyotirling Temple of Shiv – In this temple there are twelve lings of Lord Shiv, Which is very attractive. Numbers of people come and worship the Lord Shiv.

Maha Shani Temple – The construction of this temple is much alluring. All sorts of troubles can be removed by worshiping the God. His blessing is very great for man kind and one can remove all the hindrances from his or her life.

Maa Vimla Temple – This temple is very excellent one. The architectural design is very good. The blessing of Maa Vimla is very effective for her devotees.

Maa Tripura Sundari Temple – The design of the temple is excellent and attractive. The devotee can get all blessing for success and money by worshiping Maa Tripura Sundari.

Aiyappa Temple – It is very good place to worship Sri Satya Narayan and get the blessing of all success through out the year. This temple is constructed in a South Indian style and very much fascinating.

Sri Ram Temple – This temple is constructed in a very traditional way and is organised by Arya Samaj of Viswa Hindu Parishad and is attractive to be visited.

Kashi Viswanath Temple – This temple was constructed with a great creativity. The statue of Lord Shiv is very attractive. the system of puja is equivalent at Kashi Vishvanath at Varanasi. The strict discipline is maintained.

Vishva Karma Temple – It is also very good in design to be worthy seen. His blessing is magnified in all sphere of life.
